Meet the Team!
Derek Nielsen PT, DPT
I am a physical therapist who specializes in saving people from unnecessary surgery, pain meds, and injections. I love helping people get back to being active and healthy. It can be running, playing golf, lifting weights, crossfit, dancing, walking, less headaches, or even sleeping better without pain. Whatever your movement goal is, becomes the focus of our treatments.
I place an overwhelming emphasis on looking closely at full-body movement. Every patient receives a head-to-toe movement screen, every visit, no matter where the pain is. This is because pain is just a symptom and often is not the primary area which needs to be addressed when seeking a long-term solution. If you're serious about finding a solution to your pain I would recommend doing one of two things - read the book I wrote which outlines everything about your solution to pain, or, schedule a free visit with myself.
When I'm not helping others in the clinic you can find me outdoors with my girlfriend, Sarah and our Border Collie, Sadie. The dog park, running trails, and hiking is a regular occurrence of us!

Patient Care Specialist:
I’m originally from Chile. There I studied Interior Design but ended working as Employees’ Benefits Manager for 1,200 employees. Then, 20 years ago my husband was presented with the opportunity of a great job here in the U.S. So, we packed and came with our two children. Since this was my new home, I made my purpose to be part of the community, which to me meant to learn the language, the culture, and participate. So, I took English classes and I volunteered at different organizations like the Zoo, the Community Foundation, and schools among others.
Currently, I volunteer at Dress for Success as an Image Consultant, and I’m working on my Life Coaching certification. I live a very active life; I love hiking, I practice yoga, and I love Zumba! Also, and thanks to Dr. Nielsen, I’m getting back into my running routine. I love to travel, and now that we’re empty nesters, my husband and I are always planning the next adventure.
I’m happy to work at Kaizen Physical Therapy because I know that we’re making a positive difference in people’s lives, and Dr. Nielsen’s passion for saving people from unnecessary surgery is contagious!
